who's your favourite? mine, well got to be Craig Hignett for me, got us to that play off final on his own, and he was the only 1 that turned up, great player, should have done more in his career though, had the skill for it.

over the years ive seen many a good one in a red shirt, brian joicey, micky buttler, derrick parker.pat howard, eric winnstanley big mick, johnny evans david pugh, big trev aylott, stu barraclough norman bites yer legs hunter alan clark, plus the guys such as redders, higgy and co from recent years but the one that sticks out for me is the one and only RONNIE GLAVIN,what he couldnt do with the ball wasnt worth talking about the man was a god on football pitches i think it was at colchester mid week ,he beat 4 players in the middle of the park then run out towards the leftwing on doing so put his foot on the ball and stopped it dead but continued running taking 2 defenders with him,ian banks followed him all the way to the point of the dead ball, where upon he lobbed the goal keeper from 35yards with the sweetest lobb ive ever seen.it must go down as one of the best goals ive everseen.one of the other good goals ever seen must have been the one for the gunners in the cup match in 86/87 charlie nicholas at the clock end beat 5 bsly players before lobbing the bsly keeper he actually went round 2 of them twice(could count as 7)i think the bsly match was the only one that day not shown on match of the day due to a dispute with the bbc that was on going with the gunners and the bbc

Oh, come on! This a silly contest because the person that's given us the players to pick from only remembers those over the last few years. Sure, Redfearn was OK, but to include Wilkinson and Marcelle is a joke. Wilkinson was mediocre and Marcelle is remembered only because he was the one that scored a highly significant goal. When he went up to head a ball he was about as powerful and commanding as Martin Bullock. Like I say, this is a limited range of options. Most of those contributing to this board won't remember Derrick Parker (great control, quick and incisive finisher), Ian Evans (tall, strong, unbeatable in the air), Ian Banks -- strong, great passer of the ball, creative and a shot like that Brazilian whose name I cannot remember). And even fewer will remember Eric Winstanley, a no-nonsense centre-half (as it was then). As for Ronnie... not much to say really. Greatest player to wear the famous Reds shirt, loved the fans and would still love to come back to Oakwell in some capacity. End of.

Ronnie Glavin for me always a buzz round the ground when he got the ball. The scurge of Sheff.Wed. an absolute legend,in my opinion the greatest player to have worn the red shirt.
